So it looks like everybody’s favorite wannabe election overturning attorney/ guy who defended a city police department for not enforcing a restraining order against a guy who murdered his own daughters is soon going to lose his law license.
NBC is reporting that Judge Yvette D. Roland delivered the recommendation of a disciplinary proceeding of the California Bar Association:
“In view of the circumstances surrounding Eastman’s misconduct and balancing the aggravation and mitigation, the court recommends that Eastman be disbarred."
This isn’t the worst of Eastman’s legal woes, he’s a co-defendant in the Georgia RICO case that also includes Donald Trump as a co-defendant, so he’s not just looking at professional disgrace, he’s also looking at potential prison time.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer guy: he successfully argued one of the worst SCOTUS case of the last 50 years, if not of all time, Town of Castle Rock v Gonzales, where he brushed off a police department’s refusal to enforce a restraining order. He also wrote an op-ed that racists hailed, arguing that then-Senator Kamala Harris was ineligible to run for President or Vice President. Then there’s that whole January 6 thing that he was an important part of…
Karma and schadenfreude. It’s what’s for dinner.
